We are planting a Church!

We are planting a New Church
WHERE: Crook of Devon Village Hall, Crook of Devon, KY13 0PG
WHEN: Every Sunday from the 21st August 2016.
WHAT TIME: 10:30 a.m. for refreshments, with the service starting at 11:00 a.m.
WHY?
Since the beginning of the year, I have been giving serious consideration to joining with other folk in this area to ‘plant’ a new church. This idea has been driven by a number of things:
- The traditional parish church system is not effective and is failing to bring the gospel to the people of Scotland;
- There is SO much to be done. If ever Jesus’ words about the Harvest Fields were true, they are true today. There is so much need for people to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus.
- It would be wrong to walk away. I have grown to love the people of the area we now live in (Dollar, Muckhart, Glendevon and the surrounding areas) – yes, even the people who despise me. I long for them to discover the full life that comes from following Christ wholeheartedly, to be free of the shackles that bind them and to discover what being part of a vibrant, authentic church fellowship can be like; and
- There are people here who desire something new. People who are fed up with broken promises; fed up with tepid, safe and comfortable religion; fed up with institutional ‘faith’, and who desire the full life that Jesus promises.
So, with all this in mind, we are getting together to start a New Church fellowship.
This is what it looks like:
TRINITY CHURCH
Why Trinity?
Oddly enough, there are three reasons:
- The God we worship: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Forever in union, forever One. As God relates to others and Himself, so we want to relate well with others and live in supportive community.
- We seek to draw followers of Christ from three counties: Clackmannan, Kinross & Fife.
- We seek to serve God in three ways:
- By holding a gathering of Christians every Sunday, to worship God and to encourage one another;
- By having mid-week gatherings, where people can feel comfortable in sharing their faith and ideas, encourage one another and learn more about God; and
- By supporting, our friends wherever they are and whatever they are doing.
‘Trinity’ has to be the right word for this sort of thing.
SUNDAY SERVICE
We will meet every Sunday at the Crook of Devon Village Hall from the 21st August 2016.
The service starts at 10:30 for teas and coffees, with the gathering to worship God commencing at 11:00 am.
After the service, there will be occasion for refreshments and conversation.
If anyone requires prayer and / or someone to talk to after the service, there will be folk on hand to be there for you.

I am so happy for you and everyone involved! I am a member of Hamilton South Parish COS. and am fearful of what the future holds for Christians, since the Lords word has been ignored for quite a number of years. I will hold your church and people in my prayers. I pass through Crook of Devon regularly on my way to and from St. Andrews and hope one day to join you in worship. Bless you all! Liz Baird
Thank you Liz. Your prayers are appreciated and needed. It would be excellent to see you if you are passing through here one day.J
This is an answer to years of prayer for the Dollar area. I will be praying for you and Trinity Church at 3.33 pm Eastern Time which is 8.33pm your time.
God bless and keep us posted. I will pass this on to mum.
Thanks Nicky, and every continued blessing on your ministry. J
Jerome and Tracy, we stand with you in thought and prayer as you continue in faithfulness and obedient action to God’s direction upon you. May He grant you strength, inspiration and fruitfulness as you branch out in His mission. Much love in Jesus name. Kevin & Buffy.
Hello Kev and Buff, and the same is reciprocated in your new ministry and endeavours. J
Will be thinking of you both and your family, and wish you all God’s blessings and direction with your new mission.
Many thanks Lorraine. J
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face towards you and give you peace. So they will put My name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.” Numbers 6:24-27 (NIV) would so love to be joining you on the 21st! Shirley. C
Thanks Shirley. Much appreciated, as are your prayers to our Father. J
The Lord is faithful to those who honour him and are prepared to sacrifice so much to proclaim the Gospel. May you be truly blessed in your ministry. There are so many needy people seeking and not finding because there is a dearth of biblical truth being preached in Scotland.
Many thanks for that Hamish. Actually, getting out of the CofS ‘bubble’ over the past 6 months has been eye opening. I have been to visit many churches in the area and was well impressed by the number of faithful, creative and vibrant congregations that there are. It was most encouraging. The truth of what you say lies in the fact that in the more established and traditional churches, these characteristics are often not apparent. J
Hi Jerome & Tracey
Having been following your blogs with great interest. Thinking of you today especially as you start on a new & exciting journey. May the Lord bless you for the stand you have made in His name. Cannot make it today but don,t be surprised to see us a one of your services next month.
Ian & Joan Smith. Edinburgh
Thanks guys. Really good to hear from you and yesterday was an excellent start. Now comes the hard work of persevering. It would be absolutely wonderful to see you along one day. Let us know when you are coming through and we can share a meal together. Take care.

How was the first service?
Hello Nicky. Apologies for the delay in replying. For some reason I was not notified of this post. All is going well. It is early days yet, but the folk keep coming and it has been the right thing to do. Please pray that folk will continue to come, that I will be able to get a job to support myself as the ministry grows and that our Father will send musicians to lead us into God’s presence in worship. Take care. J
